Philosophy

As an artist, I have always been fueled by curiosity. Discovering what my boundaries are as a dancer and finding new ways to push them allows me to become comfortable being uncomfortable. Being open to new styles and learning from others help me to gain artistic inspiration from new sources.






Bio

Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Rhapsody Stiggers ​began her journey with dance at two years old at the ​Minnesota Dance Theater in Minneapolis. There, she ​studied classical ballet and Graham. As a young teen, ​Rhapsody segued into a wider variety of styles at TU Dance ​Center such as Horton, contemporary, improvisation and ​West African dance under the direction of Toni Pierce ​Sands. In addition, she has had the opportunity to ​participate in various summer intensive programs ​throughout her teenage years including: Ballet Nacional de ​Cuba, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, and Alvin Ailey American ​Dance Theater. While attending the Boston Conservatory at ​Berklee, Rhapsody continued her ballet and modern ​training studying under influential professors such as Kurt ​Douglas, Gianni DiMarco, Marissa Parmenter and Brian ​McGinnis. Additionally, she has worked with multiple guest ​choreographers including Doug Varone, Maria Bauman and ​Crystal Perkins for works performed on the main stage. ​Rhapsody spent her final semester at BoCo working with ​choreographer Anderson Carvalho in Cape Town, South ​Africa.
